Superman
These are the answers to some questions on our site. It is about how Superman changed. We are learning about adaptation this term, which is why we are doing this. Did you know that Superman used to be a bald telepathic villain bent on taking over the world?
Man of steel...red underwear or blue underwear?
He originally wore red underpants, but it changed to blue, and in the Man Of Steel movie, he had no underpants.
Why did it change?
He changed his underwear colour because it looked sleek, cooler, and it fitted the changing fashion.
Krypton - what is it?
Krypton the planet where Superman comes from.
Why was it important to Superman?
Krypton is important to superman because it is his home planet.
What part did Superman's parents have in his survival?
His parents made the choice to send superman to earth in order for him to survive. They died doing this.
Original powers?
He could jump one mile, He had super strength and had super speed.
Did he fly in the beginning?
He could not fly in the beginning, he could only jump around a mile.
What changed in term of his super powers?
Instead of jumping he could fly, Superman now has laser eyes. He also has X-ray vision.
Daily planet - his workplace...how does he adapt between his human workplace and being a superhero?
He has glasses when he is in his workplace and when he is a superhero he has no glasses and he has rubble costumes.

I woke up on the last Sunday of the holidays all excited because I was playing in a basketball tournament at the ASB stadium. My team is called
The tournament went the whole day. It was tiring. Some of the teams we played were, Otara Oats and East Dragons. We played 6 games during the day, we won 4 and lost 2. There were some really good players.
Tamaki Tornadoes U/11’s made it to the semi finals. We played hard. I scored a goal because Stevenson passed me the ball when I was free. I put up the shot and it went in. At the end of the game we had won, the score was 10-9 to us. Woohoo we were in the FINAL!!!!!
The team we were supposed to play in the final had already gone home so we played a different team. I felt really happy we didn’t have to play them because they could shoot 3 pointers. The team we played instead beat us but we all had fun.
After the tournament I went to Judah’s house because when they dropped me off there was no one at home. Judah and I played games on the X-Box 360 until it was time to have dinner. We had pizza and it was yummy as. I had heaps of fun at the tournament and at Judah’s house.

Use my Brain, Use my Heart, I'm going to be Cybersmart.
For part of our writing we had to explain what Use my brain, use my heart, I'm going to be Cybersmart means to me.
Use my brain, use my heart, I’m going cyber smart was made up Mr Burt to share at an assembly. It was the korero for the week. The korero was to help us remember to do the right thing on our netbooks!!
Use my Brain means to have self-control when I’m working on my netbook. If l am on the wrong thing then l need to use my brain and stop doing it and close the tab before I get in trouble.
Use my Heart is when I can feel my heart beating faster because I’m on the wrong thing on my netbook. It starts beating faster because I’m scared of getting caught and being put on detention or get my netbook taken off me and put away.
I’m going to be Cybersmart is when you have a bad Email sent to you. You have to take a screenshot of the email then send it to 3 teachers including Mr Burt. After you have done that then you can delete it from your email.

Boxing.
For writing we had to pick a sport from the Commonwealth Games and find out some information about it. I picked Boxing, here is what I found out.
Boxing
What is Boxing?
Boxing is a sport that has 2 people trying to punch each other with gloves on their hands. It shows strength, speed and how fit someone is.
Equipment.
The equipment you need is boxing gloves for each person, a boxing ring, mouth guard, boxing shorts, shoes, a referee and a trainer.
How do you win.
To win a boxing match you must knock your opponent out or you can win by getting the most points. To get the most points you have to land lots of punches and hardly miss.

History of the Commonwealth Games.
When the Commonwealth games started they were also called the Friendly games. The first games were held in Canada in 1930. 11 Countries sent 400 athletes to compete in 6 sports and 59 events. Since then The commonwealth games were held every 4 years but not in 1942 and 1946 because of the second world war.
The games have changed a lot over the years even it’s name has changed. From 1930 to 1950 it was called the British Empire Games. From 1954-1966 the were called the British Empire and Commonwealth games. In 1970-1974 they were the British Commonwealth Games. Then in 1978 it was named The Commonwealth Games and that is what it is called today.

Going to the movies
For writing we had to write about something we did in the holidays. I went to the movies and this is my writing.
In the Holidays I went to the movies with my aunty and cousins, we wanted to get out of the house because we were bored. We hopped into Aunties car and drove to Sylvia Park, it took us forever to find a parking space. When we got to the movie place, we were all really excited. Aunty got our tickets and told us we were going to watch Transformers. She also got us some popcorn, ice cream and drinks. YUM!!!!
During the movie there was lots of swearing in it. I didn’t like it when Optimus Prime was swearing. I enjoyed the movie heaps even though it had lots of bad words in it.
My favourite part of the movie was when the Autobots were fighting against the Decepticons to stop them from destroying the Earth. Optimus Prime got stabbed and I felt scared that they wouldn’t win the fight. Lucky the Autobots were too strong and in the end they saved the Earth.
When the movie finished I was feeling really tired, but I was also happy that we got to do something exciting during the holidays. We walked outside to go home. It was dark as, Aunty said “when you get home, you go straight to bed.” I couldn’t wait to get home and go to sleep.
I hope Aunty will take us to the movies in the next holidays.

Ariana's Birthday
“Yay,” Stevenson and I screamed excitedly when we arrived at his cousins 3rd birthday party. The theme for the party was pirates and fairies. Obviously we dressed up as Captains from Gold Island.
Stevenson and I played with the balloons until everyone had arrived. When all the guests were here we started to play games. Such as pass the parcel, on the ship off the ship and musical statues.
The first game we played was pass the parcel. In the game you have to pass the parcel when the music is on. When it stops then you unwrap one piece of paper. Stevenson and I got a lollipop. The winner of the game (person who unwrapped the last paper) got a new colouring pack.
Stevenson favourite game was off the ship on the ship. Its a game where players start on one side of a line, then the mc says “off the ship or on the ship” then players jump on the other side of the line.
After the games we ate some scrumptious food. Stevenson and I had jelly, chicken chips, pork and all sorts of other delicious food.
Going to Ariana’s birthday was so awesome. I loved it because of all the delicious food and fun games. Happy birthday Stevenson cousin.
