The world war 1.

This morning at school we had an assembly. I thought it was funny because it wasn't Friday. Mr Burt and Mr J were telling us about World War 1. It happened 100 years ago today. We saw some videos of  soldiers going to war, and some pictures of what the place looked like where they were fighting. There was lots of mud and no trees r grass. We saw  a photo of Mr Burt’s and Mrs Flavell’s Grandads who went to the war.
When the assembly was almost finished we watched the flag in our school get raised, there was a bugle playing the Last Post when it was going up and then they took it down to half way. We had to leave assembly quietly and not make noise so we could remember all the people who died in World War 1.

I have been searching about the world war 1 I hope you like. In 1914 the world war 1 began it started on  28 of July and went until the 11 of November in 1918. There were more than 9 million fighters that were killed in the war. About 100,000 New Zealanders served in the World War 1.

History of the Commonwealth Games.

When the Commonwealth games started they were also  called the Friendly games. The first games were held in Canada in 1930. 11 Countries sent  400 athletes to compete in 6 sports and 59 events. Since then The commonwealth games were held  every  4 years but not in 1942 and 1946 because of the second world war.

The games have changed a lot over the years even it’s name has changed. From 1930 to 1950 it was called the British Empire Games. From 1954-1966 the were called the British Empire and Commonwealth games. In 1970-1974 they were the British Commonwealth Games. Then in 1978 it was named The Commonwealth Games and that is what it  is called today.

Going to the movies

For writing we had to write about something we did in the holidays. I went to the movies and this is my writing.
In the Holidays I went to the movies with my aunty and cousins, we wanted to get out of the house because we were bored. We hopped into Aunties car and drove to Sylvia Park, it took us forever to find a parking space.

When we got to the movie place, we were all really excited. Aunty got our tickets and told us we were going to watch Transformers. She also got us some popcorn, ice  cream and drinks. YUM!!!!

During the movie there was lots of swearing in it. I didn’t like it when Optimus Prime was swearing. I enjoyed the movie heaps even though it had lots of bad words in it.

My favourite part of the movie was when the Autobots were fighting against the Decepticons to stop them from destroying the Earth. Optimus Prime got stabbed and I felt scared that they wouldn’t win the fight. Lucky the Autobots were too strong and in the end they saved the Earth.

When the movie finished I was feeling really tired, but I was also happy that we got to do something exciting during the holidays. We walked outside to go home. It was dark as, Aunty said “when you get home, you go straight to bed.” I couldn’t wait to get home and go to sleep.

I hope Aunty will take us to the movies in the next holidays.
