Immersion assembly

In term 3 we had an immersion assembly  at Pt. England School.  This term we are learning about Trade and Enterpri$e.  Team 1 is learning about earning money by working around their class to spend at their very own market.  Team 2 is learning about ice cream.  Team 3 is learning about careers and jobs.  Team 4 is learning about emotions and how to use money.  Team 5 is learning how to be financially responsible.

My favourite part of the assembly was when Team 5 was on the stage because Mr. Barks was pretending to be a girl.  He was dressed up as Mrs. Wiseman.  The Good Guys came over to their house and tried to rip them off.  Mr. Wiseman wanted to buy a jacket for his dinner with Mrs. Tele'a.  The Good Guys said that the jacket was $40 and he said he was broke.  They said that it was ok, he could pay later, but he would have to pay $70.  Mrs. Wiseman said that they were ripping them off. Why should they pay an extra $30?  The Wiseman's were being financially responsible!

Polyfest

CHOO HOO room 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 went to polyfest. When we went on to the bus we were excited. When we got to polyfest we had to go to the front gate. We had to go and wait at the front gate for pt england to go in.

We went in to the polyfest I went in to my group. My group went and saw the Samoan stage. And then we went to the Cook Island stage. And then we went and play jenga we made it up to 28.

And then we went to see the tonga stage and no one was there. And then we went to see the maori stage and we saw Pt england and then we had to go on the bus to go back to school. I had heaps of fun and i hope I go back to polyfest in 2016.

Pasifika

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!! It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific. This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!

Part of the celebration is the Polyfest! This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages. The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.

Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning? Awesome isn’t it! If you think you are not telented you are telented. Polyfest is when collage people do clutter dance.

The ASB Polyfest is the largest Maori & Pacific Island cultural festival in the world. This year’s festival is 200 groups from 60 schools. The 2014 ASB Polyfest takes place from the 12th – 15th of March at the Manukau Sports Bowl, Te Irirangi Drive, Manukau. It will feature traditional dance and speech, and will bring the pride and passion of Auckland’s Maori and Pacific Island communities to life.
